Ingredients

  • Lime juice, to taste

  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 slice of sourdough bread, toasted

For the Asian Sauce:

  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cm piece of fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 50 ml soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tuna:
    Coat the tuna with sesame seeds on all sides. Heat a pan with minimal oil and sear the tuna quickly, leaving the center raw. Slice into thin pieces.
  2. Crispy Onion Topping:
    Soak the sliced onion rings in cold water for 5 minutes. Drain, coat in cornstarch, and fry until golden brown.
  3. Prepare the Avocado:
    Slice the avocado, drizzle with lime juice, and season with sea salt and sesame seeds.
  4. Make the Sauce:
    Mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, green onion, and sesame seeds until well combined.
  5. Assemble the Tartine:
    Toast the sourdough slice until crisp. Top with fresh arugula, avocado slices, crispy onion rings, and sesame-crusted tuna. Drizzle the sauce over the tartine before serving.
